I wish to take this opportunity to thank all of you at PSI, as well as your sponsors and donors, for the years of help you gave me at the absolute lowest point in my life. I lost my husband and best friend in 2001. I was diagnosed with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency in 2002. Then in 2006, I lost my job and I would have lost my health insurance if you would not have helped me. When I lost my job, I could no longer afford my home because of finances and physical ability. Since I had COBRA health insurance and was on disability, I was able to become involved in a transplant program. I don't know if I would be dead without the lung transplant I received, but I do know that without it, my life at the moment would involve very little physical activity and I would not be able to participate in my volunteer work. After getting on Medicare after my transplant, you paid for my secondary insurance until I could afford it myself. Life may not be peaches and cream, but I am now a proud grandmother who never thought she would live to see any grandchildren and I will have another grandchild this fall, GOD willing. I go to the gym three times a week, volunteer at my church four hours a week, and occasionally help seniors pick their part D plans in the fall. If not for your generosity, I shudder to think of what my life would be like today. You will forever be my hero. I wish I had enough income to give to you and your mission, for I know you truly do good things for people who are in very dire straits. Thank you and GOD bless you!
