An Incredible Honor for PSI

(Midlothian, VA – March 5, 2020) – Patient Services Inc. (PSI), the nation’s first non-profit 503(c)(3) patient assistance program, celebrates its twelfth consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. Charity Navigator assesses over 1.5 million charities nationwide, and only 1% of all organizations have received at least 12 consecutive 4-star evaluations, the highest possible rating.

“PSI is thrilled to announce that we have received our twelfth consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator,” said Mandy Herbert, Director of Program Development. “For over 30 years, PSI has taken pride in utilizing donations to support rare-disease patients in need.  Since 2003, PSI has provided over $800 million in direct patient assistance!”

Charity Navigator presented PSI with its coveted award because of its strong financial health and commitment to accountability and transparency. Since 2002, using objective analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a 4-star rating. Charity Navigator has recently introduced new metrics and enhancements for evaluating governance, ethical practices, transparency and accountability, further substantiating the award presented to PSI. With a 4-star rating, PSI performs more efficiently than most charities in America and outperforms most charities in its area of work.

PSI serves patients nationwide and has over 30 years of experience assisting patients with rare diseases. Additionally, PSI continues its objective to aid patients with chronic illnesses and is passionate about providing the support they need.

“PSI’s exceptional 4-star rating sets it apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public,” said Michael Thatcher, President and CEO of Charity Navigator. “Only a quarter of charities rated by Charity Navigator receive the distinction of our 4-star rating. This adds PSI to a preeminent group of charities working to overcome our world’s most pressing challenges. Based on its 4-star rating, people can trust that their donations are going to a financially responsible and ethical charity when they decide to support PSI.”
